Breaking
In
Jozette has now broken in three of our quarterhorses. The
two geldings she broke in came back well broke, stress free, obedient
and a joy to get on and ride. She has made it easy for me to carry
on their training and education for the show ring. They have both
given me great pleasure in their training and at the shows and are
now rock solid western performance horses with many wins and placings
behind them.
The filly we sent up has been broken in by Jozette and James and
is very impressive and showing alot of potential. The work they
put into her was thorough and highly professional. A job well done!

Breaking In, Training & Lessons
From the time I started western 8 years ago, I have used
Jozette for any training I may have required and have always found
her to be excellent both with understanding my horse’s needs as
well as my own, right through from green brokes to senior horses.
I have now had the pleasure of having my 2 year old broken in and
after 8 weeks with Jozette he is a dream to work with. It’s amazing
what she can achieve in this little amount of time. From never having
had a saddle on to being able to sidepass, back around corners,
walk over bridges and calmly trail ride anywhere without hesitation
or trepidation, it’s a fantastic transformation.
I would recommend anyone wanting their horse to have a great start
to their riding careers to send them to Jozette, whether it be for
competitive western riding or just hacking around the farm. All
horses come back respectful, responsive, soft and a pleasure to
have around. I would have no hesitation to recommend Jozette & GB
Stud to anyone.

Breaking In, Training & Showing
We have been fortunate enough to have 3 of our horses now
broken in or trained by Jozette, all of whom we are extremely happy
with. Our most recent horse to be under Jozette’s training, ‘Imagine’
(Rocky) was taken back on just prior to Christmas 2006 in preparation
for the 2007 PHANZ National Show. When we initially approached Jozette
to see if she may be interested in campaigning our stallion for
us we had no doubt in our minds that she was ‘the’ best person for
the job, so were obviously delighted when she accepted the task.
Throughout the time that she has had Rocky we have had the utmost
respect for and confidence in Jozette (& GB Stud), that he is getting
the best training and care that we could possibly hope for. We have
found Jozette’s overall manner with the horses and her training
program have really suited us and the results speak for themselves:
‘Imagine’ PHANZ National Show 2007 Champion Colt/Stallion 1st Junior
Trail 1st Open HUS 1st Junior Horse Reining 4th Open Western Pleasure
1st Junior Horse Pleasure 1st Open Pleasure Classic 1st Trail Extravaganza
Hi Point Junior Horse Overall Hi Point Performance Horse.
To say that we are over the moon with Jozette’s training and how
she has our horses performing would be an understatement. We would
highly recommend Jozette and GB Stud to any potential customer as
their professionalism and training regime is second to none. Thank
you Jozette, and Anne, we are truly grateful for everything you
have acheived for us!

Lessons
I started lessons with Jozette in March this year, after
a five year break from riding and having previously ridden "english"
for 13 years.
Since March I've ridden several GB Stud school horses, in particular
the amazing, unflappable Freckles Cotton Candy. This has been an
invaluable opportunity for me, firstly because after a particularly
nasty riding accident I was not confident getting on horses I didn't
know and secondly because it has enabled Jozette to teach me to
ride any horse effectively.
An extremely talented horsewoman, Jozette is easy to talk to, great
to be around, patient, enthusiastic and extremely generous with
her time and knowledge. Under her professional guidance and uncomplicated
training methods I have in 4 months, riding once a week, transformed
into the confident, effective rider I had been striving unsuccessfully
for 13 years to become.
No matter what your discipline, I'd recommend you get in touch with
Jozette if you're wanting to significantly improve your riding.
Thanks Jozette! I'm looking forward to many more lessons with you
in the future.

Training & Lessons
Jozette's confident and consistent manner when training
myself, my daughter and our horses has given us all a thorough grounding
in all aspects of western riding with no milestones missed or rushed.
She has risen to some demanding challenges with our inexperienced
and and often stubborn horse (Red) and taught both myself and my
horse tactics to cope, understand one another and hugely improve
our performance. Jozette trained Amelia (10 years) into a confident
youth rider yet recognised her limitations and never pushed her
beyond her capabilities. She makes the lessons interesting and fun.
Never boring!

Training
One day after looking on the Western Riding Club website I found
a horse that interested me. The hospitality and friendliness of
Anne and Jozette were second to none. The honesty regarding Mikky,
who I had come to see, was welcomed. I had a chance to ride Mikky
the first day, he was as they had said a young green horse, that
had been started and turned out, with not much done with him. He
was unbalanced, green and so very willing that first day, with me
being lucky enough to have some time with Jozette. The second day
he was much improved and again I was very lucky to have a lesson
with Jozette, she was very patient and explained things so that
I could understand them, even having to say them again and again.
The time spent was well worth just the trip to Auckland.
I bought Mikky that day, not just because he was such a nice horse,
but also because of the input from Anne and Jozette about his nature,
paces, potential etc. Before Mikky came down to Taranaki, I arranged
with Jozette to give him a full week of training. The difference
when I next rode him was amazing, he was more balanced and settled,
less sensitive to my legs, more sure of himself. Jozette had taken
note of what sort of rider I was and worked on the things that I
needed most. That is why she is so good with people and horses,
she has that natural ability to look at a rider and/or horse and
know what is required. Even more is the ability to teach not just
an experienced rider but to come down and teach a beginner at their
level too.
Many thanks for introducing me to Mikky, and the work you put into
him. Also thank you Anne for the hospitality and the chance to look
around GB Stud.

Breaking In
It was a good 6-7hr trip for us up to Jozette's from Waverley
Taranaki. It was well worth it to us, being met by great hospitality
by Jozette & her family. Jozette broke in Elusive Dreams (Smoky)
for us, and has done a fantastic job with her. I went up to ride
her before the transporters brought her home, and was really impressed
by how far along Smoky was with her training in such a short time.
We found Jozette communicated well with us, and is very comfortable
to be around. We are lucky to have someone of her calibre to be
able to train and school our horses. We only wish we lived closer.
We would highly recommend her to anyone, in any equine discipline.

Lessons/Training/Breaking In
I’ve dealt with GB Stud for over 10 years, having bought
numerous horses from them and having horses broken in, trained,
and lessons for myself. They are a great team, and I highly recommend
them to anyone looking to buy a quality horse or to meet any horse/rider
training requirements. There is no doubt that Jozette has a special
talent and will be able to assist you and your horse in reaching
your goals – be they recreational or competitive.

Breaking In
We are very fortunate to have a person like Jozette to break
and train our horses and ourselves. Jozette has now broken in two
of my horses, Rules Zipped in Chocolate and Seek the Riches and
we have bought GB Blue Mystique who also is very well broken in
and trained.
Jade (Rules Zipped in Chocolate) was broken in by Jozette and what
an awesome job. Jade, even though she hasn't been campaigned under
saddle, is great for anyone to ride.
Richie (Seek the Riches) was broken in by Jozette last year and
once more a great job was done. He was broken in and then came home
to his stud duties for the year but developed warts on his nose
and mouth so was unable to be shown under saddle or at halter. We
hope to get him out and about (all going well) this year.
I have recommended Jozette to all my friends and people who buy
our horses. She is at present breaking in Elusive Dreams for her
new owner and we are sending I'm All Class to Jozette shortly for
a few weeks work before she becomes a broodmare due to a paddock
injury.
I intend to campaign Mysti under saddle this coming season with
lots of help from Jozette and Tania is hoping to campaign Jade in
Rookie classes also with help from Jozette.

Lessons
Jozette is a great instructor who has vastly improved my
riding skills and helped me to become a more proficient, self-confident
rider. She provides constructive feedback in a kind, supportive,
positive, and persistent manner. I have learned a great deal from
Jozette in only a few lessons and know that she would be just as
capable of improving the riding ability of less experienced riders
as she is at fine-tuning the skills of more experienced riders.

Western Lessons & Training
I purchased
a young horse from GB stud about 2 years ago. I knew nothing about
western riding and quarter horses, but had always been interested
in learning. Over that time I have continued to have western lessons
on Jozette’s well trained horses and my own, she is by far the best
teacher and trainer I have ever experienced. She is so patient and
puts things in terms you can understand. She teaches you how to
ride your horse and not to sit there and just look pretty. I have
learnt more about riding a horse properly since having lessons with
Jozette than I have in the last 20 years of riding!
Jozette also brought my horse back into work for me after she had
an injury, she taught that horse more in 10 weeks than I would have
taught it in a lifetime. Consequently I now have a horse I am confident
to take anywhere, on the English circuit no one can believe that
my horse is only 4yrs old and so well behaved in the show ring!!
All thanks to Jozette! Everyone at GB stud is so helpful and friendly
and their services far exceed all expectations, they are great ambassadors
for the western discipline and have been so helpful to me starting
out in western after being an English rider for so long. My only
regret is that I did not learn how to western ride first!!
If I could be half as good a horse woman as Jozette I certainly
would be happy. Thanks Jozette for all your help and patience!!

Training
Thank-you Jozette for the lovely job you have done with
Eve. She is more responsive and smoother with change of gait, and
in her overall performance. The results have been awesome, especially
her stop, backup and lope.

Adult Learner
I have been having lessons with Jozette for about seven months now,
and perhaps represented somewhat of a challenge as I had never ridden
prior to this time. Over this period I have had the opportunity
to ride several GB horses, all off which have been both exceptionally
well trained and well mannered. Absolutely everything has been new
to me from picking a hoof to loping and I am very grateful to Jozette
for her incredible patience. The Thode family have been nothing
but generous with both their time and knowledge, they have succeeded
in creating an amazingly welcoming and relaxed atmosphere at GB
and I look foward to many more lessons in the future.

Western
Lessons & Breaking In
I have been
having lessons with Jozette for several months now, and I have found
her to be a very competent western trainer. She is always very patient,
and thorough. I have learnt more with Jozette than I have in all
the clinics I have been to. Recently I had my young horse started
there, and Jozette has her going beautifully. I am very impressed
with the professional and friendly service at GB Stud.

Western
Lessons
I have received very valuable service from GB Stud. Both Anne and
Jozette are awesome people who are extremely generous with their
time and advice and are terrific ambassadors to the sport and have
been for many years.
Jozette is a fabulous instructor who takes the time to listen to
you and your needs, she has a genuine affliction and affection of
the equestrian world with impressive patience both with horses and
people alike, never attempting to surpass either ones capabilities.
When I started going to Jozette I had many fears and phobias and
I have felt very safe from the beginning, secure in the fact that
she never pressured or attempted to get me to do anything I didn't
feel safe or was capable of doing.
In 12 months I have progressed from a terrified Rookie to someone
who is beginning to feel confident in both their ability and knowledge
and for that I cannot express my gratitude enough.
I have not always had access to the best of equine partners but
Jozette has provided me with invaluable assistance, support and
encouragement and I would highly recommend her services and input.

Lessons & Training
I own three horses,
all of different ages, abilities and stages in their training. I have
been impressed with Jozette's ability to adapt her training techniques
to suit each of them. She distinctively knows how much to ask from
each of them, never asking beyond their capabilities but supportively
encouraging them to give their best. She is always positive in her
approach and clear in her training goals to them. My three horses
have each responded to her work and have shown excellent results,
far passing my initial expectations.
I have also had lessons on her schooled horses, which has done wonders
for my horsemanship skills. These horses are beautifully trained;
they know their job, leaving the rider to concentrate on their riding.
Jozette is always professional, supportive, positive and friendly,
making the lessons lots of fun too. I would recommend Jozette to anyone
needing a "horsy hand", either a youngster started, a trained horse
advanced, a problem fixed or horsemanship skills improved. She really
is a good source for all.

Re-training & Western Lessons
I first met Jozette when a friend had her horse at Jozette’s for re-schooling.
My friend invited me along to view Jozette working her horse and knowing
the problems that my friend was encountering with her horse I went
along with a very open mind and knowing nothing about Jozette. We
arrived at Jozette’s as she was about to mount up and ride. The next
hour was spent in awe watching Jozette ride this horse who had a history
of bucking to such an extent that no one could ride him. And there
he was going absolutely beautifully; engaged, soft, giving and an
absolute joy to watch. Wow. This for me was like turning a page as
I had a young horse at home with whom I was needing some help with.
After speaking with Jozette we arranged to send my young horse to
her for re-starting. And so our relationship began. Jozette took the
youngster and during this time the progress that she made with him
was monumental. She had him going nicely at a walk, jog and lope;
once again engaged and light off the leg. Whilst Jozette was working
with my youngster I arranged to come and have lessons with her on
her schoolmaster horses, which was absolutely fantastic. It gave me
the opportunity to develop a feel and expectation of western riding.
The day came when Jozette felt it was time for me to begin riding
my youngster, so we saddled up and I got on board. Could not believe
it – this was a totally different horse – forward moving, light, supple
and engaged. Prior to going to Jozette this horse would be best described
as flat, heavy on the leg and would not go forward – so to have this
turn around was exactly what I was looking for.
To cut a long story short… my youngster is now 7 and we have come
such a long way with the support and help of Jozette. There have been
many a time where I have wanted to give it all away but after a lesson
with Jozette we are always back on track. Not only has my horse benefited
from Jozette but so have I. My riding has become so much more refined
which in turn benefits my horses. I have a second horse who is my
dressage horse (oh yes, a foot in both camps; Western and English).
Last winter I decided to dust off my dressage horse and take him out
and compete him at the Winter Dressage Series at Woodhill Sands. Considering
the minimal preparation that was put in prior to the series he went
superbly. Competing in classes of up to 40+ horses in the overall
series he won one class and got second in another.
Jozette’s support, knowledge, gifted ability with riding and understanding
of horses has proved to be invaluable to me. The crowning glory for
me was last weekend when I took my young horse to the 2006 Easter
Show and he was given Champion Gelding and Supreme Champion Appaloosa.
Couldn’t have done it without you Jozette!
